SIMIAN
Team Prototype

SIMIAN is a First-Person 3D Survival Horror game in which the player must manipulate the environment, avoid lethal sentient mannequins, and escape the house they have been trapped in.

What I Worked On:
Map Manipulation Functionality
Enemy Movement
Environment / Prop Work
Design Work on Gameplay Loop
Design Work on Puzzles

This 4 week prototype was created by Wizards of The River.
This prototype challenged us to create an eerie environment while having a fairly linear experience with a clear beginning, middle, and end.

Players can interact with different game objects in the environment via a floor schematic. There is a constant threat of mannequins that follow when not being looked at.
I worked mainly on the programming of this project, with light environmental designing, and implementing the floor plan schematic to be able to move objects around the scene.

While working on this game, we wanted to answer the questions of how to balance tension of threats with the strategy of rearranging the environment's objects.
We also were trying to find a balance between rearrangement-centric puzzles and the core survival-exploration gameplay.
